Law Talk: from the Courthouse to your House

Sharing Your Faith in Modern America

The Gospel.

God commands that we share it. Lost people desperately need to hear it.

Sharing the Gospel person-to-person was God’s original plan for how the world would know about salvation through Jesus Christ. Yet, sadly, and tragically, many Christians have abandoned this responsibility entirely, or believe that their job is being accomplished by various other outlets such as radio stations, Christian books, Gospel music, and certain well-done films. The reality, however, is that nothing can replace the one-on-one witness of a humble, caring Christian who simply shares the love of Christ with a soul in desperate need of a Savior.

The reality is that far too many of us don’t take seriously our responsibility to “go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Maybe that's because we don’t really, truly believe there is a place called Hell. Maybe it’s because we have become so caught up in “ministry” or other important charitable endeavors that we forget the object and point of real ministry: pointing the lost to Christ. Or maybe it’s because we have become so enamored with our “stuff” and with obtaining more and more that we have no time or passion for those lost without Christ.

The lost world around us is not just the millions of unknown persons overseas or in some far-off corner of the world. They are our neighbors, our friends, our co-workers. And even our family members.

If you and I don’t tell them, who will?

The goal of this month’s Free Resource from the NCLL, “Sharing Your Faith,” provides some guidance on the legal aspects of witnessing in public schools, workplaces, public places (such as sidewalks and parks), neighborhoods and private property, and shopping malls.  While by no means exhaustive, we pray that this guide will be a help and an encouragement to you as you seek to share the love of Christ with a lost and dying world.
