Thanksgiving: Keeping Perspective

If it's wrong, fight it. If it's right, fight for it.

Happy Thanksgiving from the
National Center for Life and Liberty

Recounting Our Blessings

Thanksgiving. It's far too often overshadowed by the retail frenzy of the Christmas--make that, the "holiday"--season.

That's sad. And tragic.

If it weren't for the events we celebrate at Thanksgiving, we likely wouldn't have 200+ years of history as the most powerful, most freedom-loving nation this world has ever known. And there's no telling where we'd be if it weren't for the God who blessed those first settlers and allowed them to pave the way for the United States of America to become a reality more than 150 years later.

This year, we want to pause for a moment and praise God for His clear hand of guidance and blessing on our nation. We are mindful every day that it is God who raises up governments (Romans 13:1b), and it is His hand of protection and blessing that we must never lose here in America if we want to continue as a great nation.

We are also forever indebted to our forefathers and to the millions of men and women who have been willing to give of their lives and their liberties to protect the freedoms we have come to enjoy and so often take for granted. To the more than 1.5 million of those who made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives, and the other more than 1.2 million who have been wounded while serving, words cannot begin to express how grateful we are for you. We hope and pray that our work at the NCLL--where we seek to defend the constitutional rights to life and liberty in the courtrooms, the legislative halls, and through various media outlets--honors and embodies the spirit of your selfless service to our nation.

Let us encourage you to take time to savor not just the turkey later this week...but to count and savor the tremendous blessings in your life too.

Lastly, we want to be sure to thank you, our supporters and friends, for your prayers, encouraging notes and emails, and your financial support. We could not do this work without you.

The United States Constitution: Do you know what it says? Do you know why it's so important? Do you know that it's being reinterpreted?

In the NCLL's Understanding the Constitution book and corresponding study guide, you will learn not just what the Constitution actually says, but also about the history leading up to its adoption, and how it's being interpreted today. A wonderful book for high school, homeschool, Sunday school, book clubs, or just for individual study to help you understand the Constitution and its fundamental role in our society.
